We apologize for today's lapse in service and want to assure you that we're working hard to fix the problem as quickly as possible.
For those who are interested in the details, here's a summary:
At 10:30am PST, TypePad experienced an unexplained database problem. As far as we know, the corruption was our application database, not to customer data. Published TypePad blogs have been available throughout the day.
We worked for approximately two hours to repair the problem and brought the application back online. Our repair efforts were not completely successful and we immediately started experiencing errors again. We shut the TypePad application pages back off.
At 2:00pm, we began bringing a backup database online. This is a long process that needs to be done in a methodical way. We hope to have the backup database working as soon as we can. We will be doing data integrity checks throughout the day, in order to make sure that the data is complete and correct.
