One related thing that we can't tackle in the current development
release is that Tag related template tags probably won't work for those
objects.  You may be able to make Category taggable, but you can't write
template like below and get the expected results.  I have filed a case
for it.

<MTCategories>
<MTTags>
<MTTagRank>/<MTTagCount>
</MTTags>
</MTCategories>

And also the admin screen would probably not show tags associated to
those objects either.
