Basenames should not be required to be unique. For entries, there is  
no conflict in having two entries with the same basename, as long as  
they publish to different paths (ie, by date, or by category). For  
pages, a common basename is bound to be 'index'. But to answer the  
question, you can declare a unique index through the schema  
declarations (there are one or two defined for the tables used by  
TheSchwartz).
