Yeah, we discussed it a while back.  I was even able to get a prototype 
working using CGI::Application::Dispatch and FCGI::Engine and a couple 
lines added to MT::App.  It's posted in the archives.  There appears to 
be some support for migrating MT::App to use CGI::Application for MTOS 
5.0 and using a dispatching system.  The nature of background and 
deferred tasks will probably be changed as well.

Of course, since I use FastCGI to run my sites, I'd love to see it 
become the primary means of running MT, with all the development 
advantages that that brings.
