[MTOS-dev] Smarty error after MTOS 4.1 upgrade

Maybe Byrne can clarify if this is correct?
As I'm not a coder, I'll be very careful how I say this, although I
discussed this with Anil over a year ago at a conference up here...
One of the things, IMHO, that is holding MT back is a lack of consistent
standards for their plugins. Some are static only, some support dynamic
publishing. Many work only for MT3x, not MT4. There's even plugins that were
built for MT2x out there, although I can't confirm they're still posted at
movabletype.org.
I guess what I'm suggesting is that there is a very clear set of standards
for plugin creation, that doesn't discourage the volunteer spirit in which
they are most often done. I also would argue that dynamic publishing should
be one of those "must have" features of plugins posted in the future.
Other opinions?
