What version of MT are you testing right now?
I don't mean to be short, but this sort of thing has been a major
topic of conversation here over the past couple of months and it well
known to all of us. Is there something new that you are reporting that
I'm missing?
Unless you're working with the latest from the repository in the past
month or so or perhaps running "Enzo" then its not a fair test since
the memory leaks have been well known issues almost from the release
of MT 4.1. How this happened isn't entirely clear, but it has and its
being addressed. If you have anything else to add to what's being done
I'm sure MTOS would take a patch.
MT has officially supported FastCGI since MT 3.3. I had one client
(O'Reilly) that was (is?) successfully running MT 3.2 under mod_perl.
Not sure how official that is though. I'm also not sure about how much
mod_perl testing goes on right now since O'Reilly is the only company
I know of to run MT like that. I'm sure there are others out there,
but they are in the vast minority right now. All the persistent
environments I setup are with FastCGI. That's not to say MT should not
support or that mod_perl testing and support is adequate, but I think
it explains how the myriad of issues that need to be prioritized
happen.
