Installing the StyleCatcher Plugin
Question
How do I install the StyleCatcher Plugin?
Answer
- Download the StyleCatcher plugin1 and unzip the file to your local computer. The files should be organized into two folders within a
StyleCatcherfolder. For example, after unzipping the file for version 1.0 of the plugin, you would have the following two folders, each with other folders and files inside them:StyleCatcher-1.0/mt-static/StyleCatcher-1.0/plugins/
- Open your FTP program and log into your server.
- Navigate to your
mt-staticdirectory2, and upload3 the contents of theStyleCatcher-1.0/mt-static/folder to it. - Navigate to your
pluginsdirectory, and upload3 the contents of theStyleCatcher-1.0/plugins/folder to it. - Set the permissions on
plugins/StyleCatcher/stylecatcher.cgito755. - Log into Movable Type, navigate to System Overview > Plugins, locate
StyleCatcherin the list, and click its name (or its Settings link). - Follow the instructions to set up your Themes Directory; specify the appropriate values for "Local 'themes' path" (a full server path) and "Web 'themes' URL" (an absolute path from your root folder), and then click
Submit. For example:Local 'themes' path: /home/melody/public_html/mt/mt-static/themesWeb 'themes' URL: /mt/mt-static/themes - Configuration is now complete and you can begin using the plugin. See Applying a New Style From the Style Library for more information.
1 Please note that the StyleCatcher plugin is a free Power Tool offered by the Six Apart Professional Network, and any related information included in our Knowledge Base is for reference only. Questions or problems regarding the installation of StyleCatcher should be directed to the ProNet Mailing List or the Community Forum, not to Movable Type Technical Support.
2 If you've upgraded to 3.2 from an older version of Movable Type and you do not see an mt-static directory, your folder may be named something different. Look at the StaticWebPath in mt-config.cgi (or mt.cfg) if you are uncertain about the location of your static files.
3 Remember that images must be uploaded in BINARY mode; all other files should be uploaded in ASCII. If your FTP program is not configured to automatically detect the correct upload mode based on file type, you will need to manually transfer each file in the correct mode.
