Movable Type Knowledge Base: Updating For an Upgraded License

Question

I was using the free version of Movable Type and now I've purchased a supported version; or, I've upgraded my existing license to allow for more users. What do I need to do to begin using my new license?

Answer

Because we operate on the honor system with regard to our licenses, there are no built-in limitations in the software itself. Assuming that the version number on your existing installation matches that of the latest release which is available, you do not need to upload any new files to begin using Movable Type under the terms of your new license.

However, if you were using an older release, you'll want to follow the Upgrade Instructions to move to the latest version.

Also, each paid license includes an Update Key. If you wish to appear on our Recently Updated List, you'll want to make sure you are using the new key you've received, rather than any old keys which are no longer valid.
