Moderate all Comments, Including TypeKey Comments
Question
I want to moderate all comments that are posted to my weblog, even those posted by TypeKey commenters.
Answer
Version 3.2 and higher
Version 3.2 gives you more distinct moderation options for both TypeKey and non-TypeKey comments. Navigate to Settings > Feedback : Comments to locate the Immediately publish comments from setting.
You can choose from the following four options for the setting:
No oneIf you choose this option, all submitted comments will be held for moderation, whether or not the commenter used TypeKey.
Trusted commenters onlyIf you choose this option, only comments made by trusted commenters (i.e., TypeKey commenters who you have previously approved) will appear immediately on your site; all other submitted comments will be held for moderation.
Any authenticated commentersIf you choose this option, comments made by anyone who signs in with TypeKey will appear immediately on your site; all other submitted comments will be held for moderation.
AnyoneIf you choose this option, all submitted comments will appear immediately on your site; no comments will be held for moderation.
Versions prior to 3.2
In versions 3.0 and 3.1, moderation and registration are two distinct functions within the system, which are mutually exclusive to a certain extent.
The purpose of moderation is to hold all comments for your approval before they appear on your site. This option provides the most control over content, but also requires the most involvement from the weblog author, who must review and approve each comment received.
The purpose of registration is to alleviate the need for continuous moderation while still having some control over who can and cannot post comments to your site. As the weblog author, you can elect to hold the first comment received from a TypeKey registered commenter, and after the first comment is approved, all further comments from that particular commenter will appear immediately without any action on your part.
If you wish to moderate every comment before it appears on your site, you should disable all of the options under Accept Comments from Registered Visitors so that you are not accepting comments from TypeKey commenters, and then rely solely on the options under Accept Comments from Unregistered Visitors.
