Trackback autodiscovery

When you create a new entry in your weblog, Movable Type can find hyperlinks within it to pages which support TrackBack. When a page with a TrackBack end-point is found, Movable Type will automatically send a ping to that site, just as if you had determined the TrackBack URL yourself and entered it in manually.

Auto-discovery takes all of the work out of using TrackBack. You only need to include links as you always have, and Movable Type can do the work for you. You will be notified of the sites that are being pinged on the Pinging... screen.

The choice for Internal auto-discovery governs whether entries within the same weblog as the entry itself should be pinged. The choice for External auto-discovery controls pinging to all other pages, including entries in other weblogs on the same Movable Type installation.
