From this screen, you may define what users can do throughout the parts of the system you control. All options will be defined below although their presence in the user interface depends on your own author permissions.

General Permissions

• System Administrator - Enables a user to access any part of the Movable Type system and perform any action, typically through the System Overview section of the application. In addition, this permission is required for any user who wishes to perform a system upgrade.
• User can create weblogs - Allows a user to create new weblogs in the system. The user creating the weblog would then be granted Blog Administrator rights on that blog.
• User can view activity log - Allows a user to view the system-wide activity log linked to from the System Overview page.

Weblog-specific permissions

• Blog Administrator - Is a pseudo-permission that, when chosen, grants all permissions on the particular weblog to the user. This is not a real permission but instead one provided for editing convenience.
• Entry Creation - Allows a user to create entries in the weblog. An author is permitted to manage all comments or TrackBacks on any entry they create.
• Upload File - Allows a user to upload files through the Upload File button on the weblog toolbar menu.
• Edit All Entries - Allows a user to edit all entries in the weblog as well as comments and TrackBacks on those entries.
• Manage Templates - Allows a user access to the weblog's template editing section and allows them to edit or delete existing templates or create new ones.
• Configure Weblog - Allows the user access to the weblog's settings menus.
• Rebuild Files - Enables a user to rebuild the weblog.
• Send Notifications - Enables a user to send entry notifications to users listed in the notification list.
• Manage Categories - Enables a user to edit and delete existing categories or create new ones. All authors may assign existing categories to entries which they create.
• Manage Notification List - Enables a user to add or delete notification records in the weblog's notification list.
• View Activity Log For This Weblog - Enables a user to access the weblog's activity log.

Any weblog-specific permission granted to the user will cause the weblog to appear on the user's weblog listing on the Main Movable Type menu.

Other options

• Add user to an additional weblog - This option enables an administrator to add the user to an additional weblog after which permissions can be granted.
• Profile » Email Address - This setting allows an administrator to change the email address of record for a particular user. This is important if the user has forgotten their password and has an old email or no email entered in the system.
