Notes about the new SpamLookup
This is an archived entry from the Movable Type 3.2 beta test.
Entries from the current beta release (v3.3) can be found here.
Since we released the new SpamLookup last night in the nightly, I just wanted to go over a few things with regards to the plugin, the feedback rating framework and the Junk folder.
First, if you are a previous user of SpamLookup, you should be aware that your settings are not preserved. If you are using the wordlists feature in particular, you should copy those to a safe place before upgrading.
Second, there is a bug (see known issues list) which triggers email notification of Junk comments/TrackBacks if you have opted for either all notifications or those for items which need attention. Junk items should never spawn email notifications and this issue has already been fixed in development.
Finally, you should make sure that your Junk threshold is initially set to 0 on your Feedback settings page. You can change it later, but you should start with the default value because it's most likely the correct one.
That's all we have for now.

Hmmm... I get an internal server error when trying to make any changes to the settings. I'm using the 20050809 nightly.

Kai, that's not really enough information for anyone to help you. But before you reply with more information, you should choose one of these courses of action:
Thank you.

My apologies. It just didn't worry me that much, as it was a nightly. I have filed bugs before... Well one... And then it turned out it wasn't a bug... And then I just felt stupid... And I had wasted about sixty seconds of the developers time with my email... Thus the next beta has been delayed by a full sixty seconds by me... Wow, this is depressing.

Don't be depressed. We really appreciate your (and everyone else's) involvement. It's just important for us to keep things organized in order to stave off chaos. :-)

You're right... I had actually overlooked the User-to-User Beta Support page, so thanks for pointing me to it.
