Plugin listing and configuration

This is an archived entry from the Movable Type 3.2 beta test.
Entries from the current beta release (v3.3) can be found here.

As we mentioned in our ProNet feature post entitled "Powerful plugin management", there are two places in Movable Type which display plugin information. The difference between the two seems to be causing some confusion which I'd like to clear up

The listing on Main menu > System Overview > Plugins is a listing of all of the plugins you have installed. From that screen, you can enable and disable plugins system wide, check the resources they register with the system and, if they use the new plugin API methods in MT 3.2, configure them for the entire system.

The listing on Main menu > (Weblog) > Plugin Settings is a listing for all plugins which have registered with MT to accept blog-level configuration. It is not supposed to duplicate the system-level plugin listing/configuration screen. In fact, this feature is new to MT 3.2 and the only plugin which currently does this is our own nofollow plugin. You will see more of these very soon.

I hope that helps to clear up some of the confusion.
