NewsMonster Beta Released
As some of you may have been able to tell from your referrers, Kevin Burton has released a beta version of the massively ambitious (this is not neccessarily a bad thing) NewsMonster.
NewsMonster is an advanced weblog manager, reputation system, micropayment economy, and semantic web application. NewsMonster allows the user to keep track of news and use reputation within the blogging community to help discover new weblogs, important articles, and other compelling relationships ... NewsMonster runs on all machines running Mozilla 1.0, Netscape 7.0 or greater. (JavaScript must be enabled) Java 1.3 or greater and Java Web Start 1.2 or greater. OSX, Linux, or Windows.
I'm still playing around and trying to get past the fact that Mozilla on OS X is just so much slower than either Chimera or Safari. (This has nothing to do with NewsMonster, of course).
Update: Mark Pilgrim writes about NewsMonster not supporting the Robot Exclusion Standard (robots.txt). There's further discussion about this over at Ben H's site.
