Element: id

Posted by Byrne Reese on January 30, 2006

The "id" element contains a permanent, universally unique identifier for an entry or feed. The id element is immutable.

Ids can be used by applications to compare two atom entries (or feeds) to see if they refer to the same entry (or feed).

Note: ids are not "dereferencable" meaning that although they appear to be URLs, they cannot be cut and pasted into a browser.
