What is Project Comet?

Project Comet is a project to create an advanced weblogging technology platform that combines the best elements of our products giving people the ability to easily stake out, build and share their own place on the web.

The blogging world has evolved a lot in the five years since we began as pioneers in the still unnamed blogging industry. But our goal today, as it was then, has always remained the same - to develop intuitive, dynamic tools that make communication easy and fun. Whether you are blogging for one, or with a group of friends or for your company, we are passionate about ensuring you have the best tools to fit the task.

Today we are giving you a glimpse at a project that a large part of our engineering team has been focused on for many months. The teams' task is to build the next generation blogging platform. We are so excited about what they have developed so far that we wanted to let you know sooner, rather than later, that great new features are in the works.

What are some of these cool new capabilities?

We have only unveiled a few of the many features that Project Comet will offer you. All of these features build on the strengths of TypePad, LiveJournal and Movable Type.

Some of the new capabilities include:

• Dynamic community blogging features that enable you to create one blog with multiple views. You will be able to choose which section of your blog to share or join with other users so that one blog automatically displays the latest postings, media and reviews from your family, friends and colleagues, making it much easier to stay up to date on the latest news.
• Powerful technology that effortlessly incorporates all the digital elements of your life in one place - text, photos, video, music, and voice - so they are available for you to share with anyone you want at anytime.
• Fine-grained privacy tool which lets you control who sees what on your blog, including posts, photos, music or other items from your media collection.

What is going to happen to TypePad, MovableType and LiveJournal?

Project Comet does not replace but rather adds capabilities to our current products. Every day we are investing to make all of our current products even stronger than they are today and Project Comet is a key element in that effort. As a current customer, you will benefit from the multimedia capabilities and the greater ease of use that Project Comet will offer in the future.

When will Project Comet be available?

Project Comet will hit the market in early 2006. Current paying customers of Six Apart will get the new benefits of Project Comet at no extra cost.
