Six Years of Dashes
Over at dashes.com, Anil celebrates his sixth year of blogging. Anil and I became friends after his Amazon Chagrin post. Although I had never interacted with him before, the pathetic nature of his post motivated me to actually reach out and befriend him. It was a big step for me since I was pretty shy at the time and could imagine him thinking "who the hell is this girl?"
We've come a long way since that post and I could write 10,000 words about all the ups and downs of our friendship. Hiring friends is incredibly hard and I know that he's wanted to kill me on many occasion (and vice versa). But at the same time, he loves our products and the company as much as we do and that's been evident since day one.
It's fitting that I write about him today since he's the reason I'm posting to Mena's Corner more. Anil knows me pretty damn well and was able to get me over one of the biggest humps in my posting habits. Basically, when I was complaining on how I was tired of the critics of Six Apart dissecting all my posts and being so determined in their nastiness, he made me realize that I need to write for the people who support the company. He gets his share of criticism over his enthusiasm for our products and if he let that get him down, he would have given up long ago.
So, congratulations to Anil's blogging anniversary and thanks for all you've done for Six Apart.
(And for being probably the funniest fucking person I've ever met).
Oh, and when you see me at the office today, let's just pretend that this sincere post doesn't exist.
