Six Apart Launches Revolutionary Social Marketing Product with TypePad Conversations

Sprint Launches First Campaign Connecting Marketers, Influential Publishers, and Consumers in an Authentic, Powerful, and Scalable way.

San Francisco, CA - May 12, 2010 - Six Apart, the world's leading blogging software and services company, today announced the launch of TypePad Conversations, a revolutionary marketing solution enabling brands to inspire and sponsor authentic conversations around consumer passions in the places where opinions are being shaped. Sprint, the official launch partner, is using TypePad Conversations as an integral part of its HTC EVOTM 4G campaign.

TypePad Conversations is the latest addition to Six Apart's growing portfolio of conversational marketing solutions, which also include TypePad Communities and TypePad Content. By leveraging Six Apart's relationships with leading publishers and long-tail bloggers, TypePad Conversations spark brand-relevant conversations across the Six Apart network of sites, which reach nearly 90 million U.S. consumers according to comScore's April figures. TypePad Conversations is open to all publishers, including those using TypePad, Movable Type, Blogger, and WordPress, among others.

"TypePad Conversations helps marketers and publishers participate in authentic and meaningful conversations at a scale and level of measurability that hasn't existed before," said Chris Alden, CEO and Chairman of Six Apart. "Now marketers can extend their brand messages around passionate conversations as they happen and publishers can grow their revenue while engaging their readership."

How TypePad Conversations Work
Six Apart works with brands and publishers to create questions around common topics of interest that are then syndicated to leading influencers in the Six Apart Media program and millions of TypePad bloggers and readers. Bloggers post their answers on their sites and inspire their readers to participate in the conversation. Answers from participating publishers and their audiences are aggregated at conversations.typepad.com and participants can share their answers on Facebook and Twitter. Featured answers are curated and syndicated to targeted Six Apart Media sites through the "Awesome Bar," a branded content module that appears below the original post on each participating blogger's site.

"We're thrilled to be one of the first bloggers to benefit from the TypePad Conversations," said Jessica Gottlieb, "This is a fantastic way for us to grow revenue and drive traffic while inspiring our passionate readers to participate in conversations that appeal to them."

Brands can sponsor part or all of TypePad Conversations including questions, content distribution, and the aggregated content site, conversations.typepad.com. Sponsored questions and featured content receive brand attribution across all publisher sites. The content aggregation site sponsorship includes custom skins, roadblocks, and content integration.

"TypePad Conversations are a unique way for us to avoid banner fatigue and organically reach highly engaged audiences," said Rich Pesce, Senior Manager, Social Media Communications at Sprint Nextel. "We're excited to be the first brand to use TypePad Conversations and partner with the influential voices in the Six Apart Media program."

Publishers participating in the Sprint campaign range from influential blogs to category leaders and include JessicaGottlieb.com, BettyConfidential.com, and Geekweek.com
