Six Apart announces powerful new business solutions for Movable Type 4
Enterprise and Community Solutions help companies bridge silos and converse with customers
Boston, MA – June 19, 2007 – Enterprise 2.0 conference – Six Apart, the world’s leading independent blogging software and services company, today announced new solutions that will enable businesses to build powerful social media and blogging communities on top of Movable Type 4.
“Our customers have been using blogging as the cornerstone of their social media strategies because it is a compelling way to converse with readers, customers, and employees,” said Chris Alden, EVP and GM of the Professional division at Six Apart. “The Enterprise and Community Solutions bring new capabilities to the Movable Type 4 platform that will enable businesses to build even more engaging, social sites for communication and collaboration.”
The Movable Type Enterprise Solution enables companies to integrate their blogging and social media efforts into their existing IT systems. Expanding on Movable Type 4’s built-in capability to create and manage thousands of blogs and users, the Enterprise Solution’s LDAP directory server integration and support for enterprise-class databases -- including Oracle 10g and Microsoft SQL Server -- make it easier than ever to deploy and manage employee and departmental blogs.
The Movable Type Community Solution makes it possible to create a custom social media platform that can attract larger audiences, increase audience engagement, and improve loyalty. Where Movable Type 4 on its own allows for registering and managing site members, the Community Solution incorporates rich member profiles, member blogs, “Digg-style” recommendation tools and other features that help new and returning visitors engage with the site and one another.
Components of the Movable Type Community Solution are already in use with several customers, including the popular food site Serious Eats and the widely regarded Gothamist, the website about New York City life that has expanded to thirteen other cities. Both have highly active, engaged and loyal members to their web sites.
In addition to the world-class support that all Movable Type customers receive, the Enterprise and Community Solutions come with priority access to Six Apart’s Professional Services team through a dedicated technical support line.
These are the first two solutions announced for the new Movable Type 4 platform, which contains an advanced component architecture that is completely new to blogging - the ability to add large packs of functionality on top of a core platform. More solutions will be announced later in the year.
Availability
The Community Solution and Enterprise Solution will be available with the release of Movable Type 4 in Q3.
